Interior Oregon Grape

Interior Oregon Grape

Mahonia aquifolium

A common site throughout the Okanagan, this evergreen shrub leaves emerge reddish, changing to bronzed green, turning deep green with spiny tips. Bright yellow clusters of flowers appear in early spring, attracting many early pollinators. A choice pick for a native plant garden, to help stabilize slopes, or for growing near Ponderosa pine trees.
