Indian Summer produces enormous, six- to nine-inch golden daisies with rich chocolate-brown centers on sturdy, branching stems, making it one of the largest-flowered black-eyed Susans available. It blooms from June until frost and performs beautifully as a cut flower, in naturalized meadow plantings, or massed in a sunny border. Like other Rudbeckia hirta selections, it often behaves as a biennial or short-lived perennial, reseeding to maintain a planting over time.
