Interior Oregon Grape
Mahonia aquifolium
A common site throughout the Okanagan, this evergreen shrubs leaves emerge reddish, changing to bronzed-green, turning deep green with spiny tips. Bright yellow clusters of flowers appear in early spring, attracting many early pollinators. A choice pick for a native plant garden, to help stabilize slopes, or for growing near Ponderosa pine trees.
